Spiders Pest Control

Even though they are harmless in Ireland, spiders are one of the most feared pests in the country, and a serious infestation can be terrifying if you have arachnophobia. Indeed, for people who are scared of spiders, even one spider present in their home can be a nightmare. Since they pose no health risk however, there is no problem with just catching them and putting them outside. Well, you might prefer to get someone else to do it, but in theory there is not problem with doing that.

Spider control concerns both preventing spiders from entering your home, as well as how to deal with them once they are there. These are all procedures which you can carry out yourself, however if you have a serious or recurring problem with spiders which you would like experts to come and have a look at, please feel free to call in the pest control professionals, who will be happy to help.

There about 370 species of spiders in Ireland, and while that seems extreme, only a few have the potential to bite humans. Spiders are highly beneficial organisms as their job is to catch and consume different types of insects, including:

  • Flies
  • Mosquitos
  • Wasps

Regardless, nobody wants to find spiders in their home or business. After all, how do you know if the spider you see is not one of the few that can bite you? Most of us cannot tell. We at Effective Pest Control make it possible to live without spiders in your home or business by employing a safe and effective spraying program for spiders.

What Is Spider Control?

Spider control concerns both preventing spiders from entering your home, and how to deal with them once they are there. These are all procedures which you can carry out yourself, however if you have a serious or recurring problem with spiders which you would like experts to come and have a look at, please feel free to call in the pest control professionals, who will be happy to help.

Is it a Spider?

Spiders differ from insects because they have two body parts, four pairs of legs, and no antenna. Thankfully they do not have wings either. Insects have three body parts, three pairs of legs, and one pair of antennae. Some crazy looking insects mimic spiders as a defence. Below are a few of the general types of spiders.

  • The Web Spinners

By far one of the largest groups of spiders. These spiders spin webs and use them to catch prey. They include most of the spiders that can bite, including the False Widow, the Woodlouse Spider, and the common Cellar Spider.

  • The Hunters and Roamers

You often encounter the hunting spiders in homes and gardens. These are small to large spiders that hunt by roaming about looking for prey. Some may build a nest in the ground and then charge out to attack prey that gets too close. Most run down their prey, which often includes insects, such as beetles. We find them in homes where they wander inside looking for a mate or prey.

  • The Tube Web Spiders

These spiders are very solitary and easy to identify by their webs. Rather than build a sizable, intricate web, you find these spiders in funnel-shaped webs in quiet places around a home or business. Some Tube Web Spiders can bite us, but generally only after being provoked.

  • Arachnids are Spiders and a few other Organisms.

Spiders are not the only organism in the class of arachnids. Mites, such as the spider mite, scorpions, ticks, and faux spiders. Most of these organisms you find outside, but a few may make their way into your home.

You Don’t Have to Live with Spiders.

If you happen to encounter one of the spiders that can bite, the bite can be painful. Most do not carry enough venom to cause serious medical issues, but people have died after being bitten. Thankfully, we are not a spider’s typical prey, but they do bite us when provoked. The good news is that you don’t have to live in a house full of spiders. Spraying for spiders is a safe and effective treatment that kills spider infestations. With ongoing spider control services, we will kill spiders before they reach your home.
